CLIMATE CHANGE AND NATURAL RESOURCES
Our company is proficient in developing community-centered early warning systems and comprehensive drought risk and vulnerability maps in the context of changing climate and different livelihood zones. Additionally, we offer assessments examining different aspects of environmental degradation, such as deforestation, freshwater reserves, erosion/soil depletion and the protection of biodiversity.
EDUCATION
JaRco has provided research services for projects at different levels of education, ranging from pre-primary to university and TVET levels. We have conducted assessments of educational attainment and evaluations of school feeding programs, programs aimed at reducing school dropout rates, and gender-related education projects. We utilize both interview-based data collection and learning assessments.
GENDER
Our organization is committed to advancing gender equity and women’s empowerment through its work. In addition to incorporating gender sensitivity into all of our work, we conduct research on gender inequality, gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, and harmful traditional practices. When researching these topics, we ensure our teams are balanced in terms of the gender of enumerators and qualitative researchers and that our experts receive extensive gender sensitivity and inclusion training.
GOVERNANCE AND DEMOCRACY
JaRco frequently provides training to government agencies aimed at strengthening capacity and ensuring effectiveness and impact. Additionally, we conduct evaluations of service delivery programs and collect data from citizens to better understand their perceptions and expectations of various governance-related issues.
HEALTH
Our staff provide technical assistance to build the capacities of public and private health agencies, enabling them to deliver effective programs. Our company undertakes assessments of health services, facilities, and supply chains, evaluating staff capacity, equipment, supplies, storage and reporting systems. Additionally, our public health experts provide capacity building at all levels to ensure that health systems are optimally aligned, coordinated and data driven. We design systems that ensure efficient and accurate health commodity forecasting, warehousing, distribution, and information management.
HUMANITARIAN AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE
Our company works with humanitarian organizations to evaluate complex emergency projects to ensure those most in need are being reached. We have extensive experience conducting work in difficult settings. We have the capacity to collect data in challenging and remote environments despite significant logistical, communication, and security challenges.
MARKETS, SUPPLY CHAINS, AND DEVELOPMENT
Our research aims to support inclusive and sustainable economic growth both in Ethiopia and across the African continent. In the past, we have conducted market assessments and other research on supply chains, job creation programs, microfinance, agricultural investment projects, and more.
MIGRATION AND DISPLACEMENT
JaRco is experienced in data collection among migrants, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and refugees in both emergency and non-emergency contexts. JaRco has previously conducted research aimed at investigating the nexus between decision-making, migrant expectations, and realities on the ground by interviewing migrants leaving the Horn towards the Arabian Peninsula.
NUTRITION
Our company brings exceptional expertise in nutrition, including situational analyses focusing on the assessment of the specific causes of malnutrition in a particular setting. Our experts are highly proficient in anthropometric measurement, data analysis, report preparation, and the provision of recommendations to help assess the severity of a situation and ensure swift response to any given emergency.
POVERTY AND LIVELIHOODS
Our work in this area is grounded in a sustainable livelihood model of development that is people-centered, holistic, dynamic, and built upon people’s internal strengths rather than external needs. Our research provides insights geared toward poverty reduction through systemic change, creating jobs and increasing incomes, with particular emphasis on impact for women and green growth.
WATER, SANITATION, AND HYGIENE
Our company possesses strong expertise in WASH. We conduct research to assess the sanitation situation in various locations and impact evaluations of WASH projects. Additionally, we conduct diagnostic assessment of WASH utility capabilities, assessing the quality standards of WASH facilities.
