Background:
JaRco Consulting is an African-owned and operated, international development consulting firm based in
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. JaRco has been providing technical support for the past 15 years in areas of
monitoring, evaluation, and data collection of development and humanitarian programming and
interventions at regional, national, and local levels. We are dedicated to improving evidence-based
interventions and programs for the well-being of individuals and communities and hold a particular
focus on the most vulnerable in Ethiopia and throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
In total, we have successfully conducted over one hundred studies, evaluations, and trainings. Of these,
more than 95 have been in Ethiopia. We have experience working in all of Ethiopia’s regions and
chartered city administrations. Additionally, we have conducted studies in other African countries,
including Cameroon, Gambia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Senegal, Somaliland, Tanzania, and Zambia. For

We are looking for highly qualified, senior- and mid-level research consultants to be included in future
projects. We are seeking experts with experience conducting quantitative and/or qualitative research in
a variety of thematic and sectoral areas (outlined below). This is an ideal opportunity for candidates with
multiple years of experience who are eager to be involved in all aspects of monitoring and evaluation,
and who would thrive in a collaborative, diverse and diligent working environment in Ethiopia.

It should be noted that candidates can be selected for one or more of the above thematic areas,
depending on their qualifications, interest, and the needs of the assignment or client.
Expected Job Functions:
- Preparation of project evaluation frameworks, i.e. baseline, midline and end-line surveys
- Preparation and fine-tuning of data collection tools and protocols
- Facilitation of training for supervisors and enumerators on quantitative and qualitative tools and
methods - Support for the implementation of project evaluation through the supervision of field work,
back-stopping of any field issues, and collaboration with the data team to fix any problems as
data comes in - Assessment and documentation of data quality and data limitations, and definition of steps to
address said limitations - Analysis of quantitative and qualitative data
- Writing of high-quality draft and final technical reports
Qualifications:
- Five or more years of progressively responsible work experience
- Masters or Ph.D. in the aforementioned thematic areas, monitoring and evaluation, or statistics
- Fluency in written and spoken English; additional languages advantageous
- Strong knowledge of research methods
- Excellent project management skills
- Prior experience managing teams in research planning and implementation
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently as well as part of a fast-
paced team - Strong computer and data processing/analysis skills (SPSS)
